Dear Friends,
My approach to government was developed through a life of working day in and day out in family-owned and small businesses. Business owners know that to stay on the right side of the bottom line, you must have discipline, make good judgments and work hard. Unfortunately, Washington has forgotten what every shopkeeper knows: you cannot spend more than you have, you must be competitive, deliver quality goods and services and -- above all -- your word must be your bond. America is in desperate need of new, disciplined leadership that will do what is right for America. We need leaders who believe that the next generation is more important than the next election. I am running for Congress to provide leadership that will decrease our national debt and secure a strong future for our country. I am running because I believe America is an exceptional place, the greatest country on the face of the earth -- and I believe that our best days are ahead of us. The greatness of America comes from the genius of American people - not from government programs. It is time to replace lifelong politicians with citizen leaders who have passion, honor and integrity. Our nation’s economic problems are complex – but the solution is simple: cut government spending! Since the election of Barack Obama, the career politicians in Washington have pursued a course of massive spending which led to massive debt. The broken model of “tax and spend” was modified to “spend and borrow,” which has made our bad economy even worse.

1. IT's all about Jobs:
"It is time to replace the status quo with fiscally responsible leaders"
Rebuilding our economy and creating jobs for millions of unemployed Americans is the number one issue facing our country. As a new father, I believe we must ensure that future generations have the same unlimited opportunities to prosper that I had -- and that my father and grandfather had.
The chance to work hard and succeed is the promise of the American Dream. When people are out of work, America doesn’t work! We need leaders with a proven track record of fiscal responsibility, who will stand up and say “no” to the big spenders in Washington.
As your Congressman, I will focus on policies that promote private sector job growth, particularly among small businesses that are the primary generators of new jobs. I will fight to cut taxes and will oppose any efforts to increase them.
I support the Balanced Budget amendment and the repeal of job-killing government takeovers like ObamaCare. I have a long track record of challenging out-of-control government spending at the municipal and state levels. I can and will stand up against lifelong politicians and their failed fiscal policies.
The career politicians in Washington have supported trillions of dollars in failed stimulus programs in the mistaken belief that more government spending will produce jobs. But we all know that more government spending leads to only two things: more taxes and more borrowing. Washington’s unsustainable spending can and must change.
2. National Debt:
"Washington borrows over 40 cents on every dollar it spends"
One of the clearest signs of Washington’s spending addiction is its reliance on excessive borrowing in order to feed its unsustainable appetite for spending.
Year-after-year the federal government continues to print money at a record pace while generating record deficits. In just the past 6 years, the national debt has increased by 6 trillion dollars.
In Congress, I will fight to reduce our national debt and I will fight for a balanced budget.
We need leaders who will seek long-term solutions based on sound economic policies, not short-term fixes based on cash infusions from the government. As a State Representative, I proposed a no-tax increase state budget that focused on the core missions of government while rolling back government spending to sustainable 2008 levels.
The current strategy of expanding the government bureaucracy has created more debt, not more jobs. We must take aggressive action to ensure the national debt crisis is stabilized and the best way is to insist upon a balanced budget.
3. Energy:
“We need leaders who will fight for energy independence”
We need to make America less energy dependent by focusing on domestic solutions, including alternative energies like wind and solar, as well as drilling in key domestic areas like the Petroleum Reserve in Alaska and the Bakken Formation in North Dakota. We have the energy resources we need right here in our own country. We must aggressively develop these sources and bring them to market.
We also already have proven sources of clean domestic energy like natural gas, clean coal and renewable energy. We cannot continue kicking the can of foreign oil down the road, helpless as gasoline and home heating prices swing wildly and wreck our economy.
Greater energy independence will stabilize energy prices and improve national security by reducing our dependence on foreign dictators and unstable countries. I support a balanced policy that includes all domestic energy options including wind, hydro, geothermal, solar, clean goal and domestic oil.
I oppose “Cap-and-Trade” and other legislation that would put American companies at a competitive disadvantage.
4. NATIONAL DEFENSE:
"The duty of the federal government above all else"
As a 17- year military veteran I understand the demands put on our armed forces members and their families.
Economic collapse is the biggest threat to our national defense. Our national defense policies must keep America safe, provide our soldiers with the best equipment possible, and make sure they have needed support when they return home.
American's $16.3 trillion in national debt, trillion dollar annual deficit and record spending has resulted in a silent Base Closure Committee (BRAC). Bases are being closed and there are proposals to cut up to 50,000 Marines and Army soldiers. We should not forget just a few years ago citizen soldiers in the National Guard and Reserves were being deployed multiple times because of a drastic decrease in the size of our ground forces since the 90's.
We must stabilize America's fiscal situation before there are automatic trillion dollar cuts to defense spending. These cuts could remove thousands of jobs from the Groton Sub Base, Electric Boat, Pratt and Whitney and the hundreds of small businesses that support their operations.
5. Government Run HealthCare:
“It’s more bureaucracy, it costs too much and it doesn’t work”
As a new father who witnessed the importance of the doctor and patient relationship, I am very concerned about the multi-trillion dollar government takeover of health care. Tens of thousands of bureaucrats managing a government-run program will not improve our healthcare system or access to quality care.
The solution does not require a massive new bureaucracy that will cost a fortune – it requires some common sense, long-overdue actions to reduce health care costs.
Citizens need to be empowered with consumer information and incentives for choosing their own healthcare. We need to enact tort reform to eliminate frivolous lawsuits which drive up medical costs. We must remove mandates, empower individuals with tax breaks and enable the purchase of insurance across state lines to promote competition and drive down costs.
I strongly support the Health Savings Account model that has been successful in Indiana. In just 5 years, 90 percent of the government workers have saved tens of millions of dollars, while decreasing their health insurance costs by 40 percent. This is an option that many doctors choose for their own families.
We must make sure that Medicare and Veteran health care programs remain solvent.
